Description

Young, Characterful and Exceptionally Quiet Apartment Near Garay Square

In Budapest’s 7th district, on Hernád Street, just a short walk from Garay Square, I am pleased to offer for rent this young, stylish and exceptionally quiet apartment. While the property is not the brightest in terms of natural light, this is more than compensated for by its peaceful location, practical layout and distinctive character.

AN INTERESTING INTERIOR

Upon entering the apartment, you are welcomed by a proper, well-sized entrance hall with enough space to comfortably store coats, shoes and bags – something that is already a genuine advantage in many modern apartments where an entrance area is barely provided.

The bedroom opens directly from the entrance hall and overlooks the internal courtyard walkway. Thanks to the apartment’s corner position, however, there is very little foot traffic here, making the room particularly peaceful. The bedroom works well as a comfortable sleeping area, although due to its size, it is primarily suited to accommodating a bed and the essential furniture. Built-in wardrobes in the dining area provide practical storage for clothes and personal belongings.

Opposite the entrance hall is the bathroom with WC, located in the same room. The bathroom underwent a complete renovation four years ago and remains in excellent condition. A new Ariston boiler, modern tiling, a walk-in shower and a high-quality washbasin provide a comfortable and contemporary setting. The space is well organised and sufficiently spacious to accommodate everything needed for everyday use.

Turning right from the entrance hall, you enter the kitchen, followed by the dining area and then the living room. Although the kitchen is compact, its design makes excellent use of the available space. The kitchen cabinetry and built-in furniture in the dining area are made from the same wood, creating a cohesive and clean aesthetic throughout the apartment. With the exception of the refrigerator, all kitchen appliances are integrated and included as part of the apartment’s full equipment.

The dining area is where one of the apartment’s most intriguing details first appears: an exposed original brick wall. The raw brickwork continues into the living room and may initially appear to be a decorative feature. However, on closer inspection, it becomes clear that this is not a subsequently installed brick finish. The original brick wall was revealed after the plaster was removed and has naturally been treated and preserved.

This small detail gives the apartment a truly distinctive character. These bricks have been here for approximately 120 years – while Budapest, and the world around them, has changed almost completely. This is what makes the property particularly interesting: something of the building’s original history has been preserved within a modern, youthful apartment.

Additional sections of exposed brick can also be found around the window reveals, further complementing the apartment’s unique atmosphere.

Overall, this is a young, modern and well-maintained apartment where contemporary, practical design sits comfortably alongside the character of a historic building. You can call it many things, but one thing is certain: this is not a cookie-cutter apartment.

A GREAT LOCATION

One of the apartment’s greatest advantages is its excellent location. Keleti Railway Station is approximately a 5-minute walk away, providing quick access to virtually every part of Budapest via the M2 and M4 metro lines, trains and numerous bus routes.

Everything you need for everyday life is also within easy reach, including shops, pharmacies, banks, ATMs, hairdressers, restaurants and a wide range of other services.

For shopping, the nearby Garay Center, together with the smaller local shops and grocery stores in the area, provides convenient options.

There are also plenty of opportunities for leisure and entertainment. Arena Mall and Cinema City are easily accessible, while the area around Puskás Aréna is particularly appealing to those who enjoy sporting events and concerts. If you prefer green spaces, City Park (Városliget) is also just a short distance away.

This neighbourhood is ideal for those who appreciate having all the advantages of city living within easy reach, without wanting to spend hours commuting. Here, transport links, shopping, everyday services and leisure opportunities are all conveniently close by.

Street parking is free for district residents. If you prefer to keep your car in a more secure location, there is also a guarded open-air car park just a few buildings away, where a parking space can be rented.
