The apartment design was a collaboration between interior designer Eszter Bertoty in Budapest and architect L.V. Rowe in California, featuring classical Art Nouveau design and state-of-the-art mechanical functions, kitchen and bathrooms, in a way that complements the original style.
The deed says the property is 155 sq/m, not including the balcony but when the architect who renovated measured it it is actually over 170 sq/m.
All of the mechanical in the apartment is new -- heating, plumbing, electrical, gas lines, waste lines. The bathrooms have circulating floor heating. The hot water starts immediately in any location. The gas meter was moved and hidden inside the closet near the front door (with permit). The machines are German, Swiss and Swedish (Bosch, AEG, Electrolux). The sanitary ware are German and Swiss (Grohe, Laufen). The kitchen has an AEG 4-burner gas cook-top.
The windows on the front/street are completely new and have triple glass (3x glass) for insulation (the living room, the master bedroom, and the den/office). The windows in the bathrooms are new. The windows on the courtyard are new or renovated. All of the window frames have energy insulation around the edges. The exterior roller shades are new and they have extra insulation.
The parquet floor was refurbished and stained and cured twice with natural wood oils.
The kitchen cabinets were custom-designed and built by Kobli Janos – he is a master cabinet-maker.
The small bedroom has the beautiful original kitchen tile floor. The bathroom tile was imported from Spain. The tile in the kitchen was recovered and re-used from the original kitchen walls.
The lights are a combination of Austrian, custom-made, and vintage pieces for the flat.
The building was built in 1912 by Budapest architect Gyula Fodor. The façade was renovated in. The entire roof was replaced in 2018. The building’s electric wiring was renewed in 2019, and the building’s front entryway will be renovated during the next year, with new elevator.
