Mandl Károly, a rope manufacturer, bought a building at the corner of Károly Körút (Károly Krt. 3/B.) in 1897, demolished it, and had a four-story, corner-domed, Neo-Baroque residential building built in 1898/99 according to Hubert József’s plans. The contractor was Imre Tolnai. In 1923, the building was significantly remodeled for the Magyar Konfekcióművek Rt. This included demolishing the corner dome to add another floor to the building based on the designs of Jenő Schwarcz and Antal Horváth.
