Zalakaros is a resort town located in the southeastern part of Zala County. The town owes its tourism to the Thermal Spa operating here. In terms of guest nights spent at commercial accommodations, it ranks as the 2nd most popular destination in Hungary.
The Thermal Spa is an internationally renowned medicinal facility. Its medicinal water comes from a depth of 2000 meters at a temperature of 96 degrees Celsius. The thermal water is produced by two wells owned by the spa, drilled into the upper layer, with a temperature of 53 degrees Celsius and a composition of sodium chloride and bicarbonate. It supports the treatment of chronic gynecological diseases, periodontal disease, musculoskeletal complaints (chronic inflammatory joint diseases), postoperative care for surgical musculoskeletal patients, and dermatological issues.
