A RARE COURTYARD SETTING

The apartment forms part of an atmospheric Romantic-Eclectic building dating from the 1860s — a genuine architectural rarity with a leafy inner garden, an Art Nouveau ironwork entrance gate, original cast-iron balustrades and red limestone staircases.

The building’s street façade was carefully renovated in the summer of 2026 in accordance with heritage conservation requirements.

Historical research by Budapest100 describes the building at 28 Király Street as a Romantic-Eclectic apartment house commissioned by János Dobler and designed by architects József Pán and János Lohr.

Its surviving original façade shows influences of château architecture, while the historic main staircase retains its original red limestone steps and cast-iron balustrade. Sections of the open-air galleries also preserve their original red limestone paving.
