Description
Panoramic, exceptionally located orchard
An exceptional property with a panoramic view of the volcanic hills and the Káli Basin is for sale at the western foot of the Öreghegy in Szentbékkálla. The avenue from the village leads directly to the plot, making it easily accessible. It is planted with more than 300 fruit trees (plum, peach, almond, cherry, sour cherry). The neighboring farms and properties are well-maintained and organized (vineyards, almond groves, holiday homes). A unique feature of the plot is the former beach bath located on it. It is currently being used for agricultural purposes. Under the current regulations, it can also be developed as a property center. With potential rezoning, it can be utilized in other ways as well.
" The village's famous spring-fed beach (pool) is a real relic of sports history. On the edge of the village is a concrete-walled, now somewhat retro-looking, but beloved pool, which is fed by the local ice-cold water of the Veléte spring. This water rarely rises above 18-20 degrees even in the hottest heatwaves.
In the 70s and 80s, the Hungarian water polo national team (the then "Golden Team", with names such as Tamás Faragó, Gábor Csapó or the national captain, Dezső Gyarmati) regularly held basic training sessions in the Balaton Uplands.
Why here? The calmness of the Káli Basin and the extreme cold of the water were perfect for conditioning and "hardening".
Salföld connection: Tamás Faragó (the “Tonó”) had/has a house in the neighboring Salföld, and according to legend, he introduced the Szentbékkállá pool to the public as a perfect training venue.
Matches on the “village beach”
Although official international matches were not held here (as the size and depth of the pool do not meet FINA standards), exhibition matches and training matches did take place here.
Locals still talk about the time when world-class polo players jumped into the water in front of the villagers.
These events were a huge attraction; people would hang in clusters at the edge of the pool to watch the world’s best players compete in the “garden pond.”
This is one of the best-located and most beautiful properties in the Szentbékkálla-Köveskál Feketehegy range.
