Recsk is a large village in the northwest part of Heves County, at the foothills of the Mátra mountains, set in a scenic environment. The terrain is varied, shaped by narrow valleys on the northern side of the Mátra. The Parádi Tarna stream, which runs through the village, collects waters from the Miklós, Györke, Csevice, Balla, Kürti, and Baláta streams.

The area is rich in natural treasures. It currently hosts one of Hungary’s largest open-pit quarries, the Csákánykő andesite quarry. Last year, the long-standing suspension of mining at the famous gold and copper ore mine was approved.

Its natural vegetation consists mainly of oak-hornbeam forests. The wildlife is abundant with both small and large game, making it a true hunter’s paradise.

The nearby 52-hectare Búzásvölgyi Lake has become very popular among anglers. Operated by the local fishing association, the lake’s fish population and species provide excellent opportunities for successful fishing all year round.
