Fortunately for the house, an archaeologist-artist couple found a home here. For them, it became not merely a place to live, but a workshop, a source of inspiration, and the setting for a lifestyle close to nature.

During the renovation carried out in 2005, their goal was not to erase the past, but to reveal and preserve it. The archaeologist husband conducted a structural analysis to locate the original walls, doors, and windows; the building was then restored with respect for these elements while also incorporating the comforts of modern living.

ALMOST EVERY DETAIL HERE HAS A STORY.
The kitchen island was crafted using the house's original beams. The beam above the kitchen counter was once part of an old door frame.
The barn was rebuilt, and its original beams now serve as striking architectural features that preserve the past.
The stones from the demolished barn did not go to waste; they were used to construct the terrace and the low stone walls separating the vegetable beds, utilizing a unique, carved stone-stacking technique.
The windows, the carved-inlay entrance door, and the interior doors are all carefully crafted replicas of the originals.
One of the kitchen’s most distinctive features is the traditional *csikókályha* (a combined cookstove and bench).
