FAIRYTALE-LIKE, LISTED CASTLE FOR SALE IN BÁCS-KISKUN COUNTY – ON A 56-HECTARE ESTATE, NEAR KECSKEMÉT
- EXCLUSIVELY IN OUR PORTFOLIO -
In Bács-Kiskun County, only approximately a 30-minute drive from Kecskemét, we offer for sale a truly exceptional, historically significant, romantically styled listed castle, which rightfully counts as one of the most notable landmarks of the settlement.
The central element of the impressive property complex, situated on an approximately 56-hectare estate with a captivating atmosphere, is a 776 sqm, 3-storey castle, which is not only unique from an architectural perspective, but also offers extraordinary opportunities for business, tourism, and representation purposes. The property may be an ideal choice for those seeking an exclusive private residence, a boutique hotel, a wedding and event venue, a wellness or hospitality centre, or even a heritage-based prestige investment.
History, character, noble heritage
The castle was built by one of the oldest Hungarian noble families, which in itself gives the property a special historical rank. The oldest part of the building is a ground-floor vaulted hall constructed in the second half of the 1700s, which remains one of the most characteristic and most valuable parts of the castle to this day. Around this historical core, a much more complex and representative castle building later developed.
The date of the transformation and expansion is indicated by the year 1873 carved into the wall of the ground-floor corridor. At that time, the upper level was completed, the towers defining the unique atmosphere of the castle were constructed, as well as the characteristic double-winged door with a dome, which give the property its romantic, almost fairytale-like appearance.
During its history, the building underwent several reconstructions. Among these, the 1920 transformation stands out, during which the former onion-domed entrance tower was replaced by two semi-circular staircases, and new entrance doors were created on both sides of the new tower. All this further strengthened the building’s unique and representative character.
Renovated, operated, and utilizable castle
In recent decades, the castle has also received careful attention: significant renovations took place at the end of 2000 and again in 2010.
During the 2010 modernization, the following were created:
9 guest rooms, a large salon, a card room,
2 private rooms used by the owners, a large restaurant on the ground floor with a terrace in front, and a serious industrial kitchen, a cosy wine cellar,
an outdoor swimming pool,
a lakeside bathhouse,
as well as a mini fitness room.
As a result, the property not only represents historical value, but is also a castle complex suitable for operation, with complex utilization potential.
The castle previously operated as a hotel, and due to its unique, romantic atmosphere, it was particularly popular as a wedding and event venue. This past function clearly demonstrates that the property not only has aesthetic and emotional value, but is also economically relevant, repositionable, and further developable for premium hospitality.
The main building – 776 sqm of elegance, historical details, and unique spaces
The main building of the castle is 3 storeys, with a total floor area of 776 sqm, while the directly associated plot is 6,107 sqm.
The interior spaces are particularly well-proportioned and impressive, with ceiling heights ranging between 2.7 and 4 metres, further enhancing the elegance and representative effect of the interiors.
In addition to the representative communal spaces, the main building contains 11 bedrooms.
Among the guest rooms, 3 are furnished with period furniture, thus conveying an authentic castle atmosphere, while 6 rooms are individually furnished, creating a diverse and characterful interior world.
Special mention should be made of the atmospheric, period-authentic knight’s hall located in the oldest part of the castle, where a traditional Hungarian restaurant previously operated. This space in itself represents significant value, as it is perfectly suitable for hosting exclusive dinners, weddings, corporate events, wine tastings, hunting dinners, or private events.
Wellness and outdoor experience – serving premium quality of life
On the estate and connected to the main building, the following are available:
a charming lake,
a lakeside bathhouse,
jacuzzi,
infra sauna,
solarium,
heated outdoor pool,
automatic irrigation system,
electric gate,
camera system.
These extras not only increase the comfort of private use, but also clearly strengthen the property’s usability for wellness, boutique hospitality, and event purposes. In the case of a castle of this level, it is particularly valuable that, alongside the historical milieu, modern comfort features meeting today’s expectations are also available.
Second building on the plot – additional function, staff or guest house opportunity
The property complex also includes another building constructed in 1950, a single-storey brick structure, located on a separate plot section.
Its data:
plot size: 3,596 sqm,
building size: 100 sqm,
rooms: 2 rooms, kitchen with dining area, bathroom, WC.
This second building may be ideally suitable as staff accommodation, a guest house, a management building, a service apartment, or even as a separately operated apartment unit. For an estate of this size and such a complex main building function, this additional building provides significant operational flexibility.
56 hectares of exceptional opportunity – diversified utilization on a single estate
One of the greatest strategic values of the castle is not only the impressive main building itself, but also the approximately 56-hectare land connected to it, which represents an extremely rare scale. An estate of this size carries independent economic, tourism, and lifestyle-based potential.
The special advantage of such a large area is that the future owner is not forced to think in a single function, but can consider multiple, mutually reinforcing utilization directions. This diversification is particularly valuable, as it simultaneously increases the estate’s value retention and long-term income-generating capacity.
The estate may provide an excellent basis, for example, for the further development of an exclusive castle hotel and event venue, where, in addition to the representative role of the main building, the surrounding land can ensure a private, undisturbed, high-prestige environment. An area of this size is ideal for hosting weddings, corporate, protocol and lifestyle events, outdoor programmes, seasonal events, or multi-day retreats.
The 56-hectare estate may also carry significant potential for tourism and recreational concepts. The romantic character of the castle, the lake, the bathhouse, and the nature-oriented environment together create a complex experiential foundation, on which a premium wellness retreat, boutique countryside concept, private club-style operation, or experience-based hospitality can be built.
Due to the size of the estate, agricultural or estate-type supplementary utilization may also arise. Such an area may be suitable, for example, for landscaped castle surroundings, ornamental garden and landscape architectural development, model farming or premium agricultural concepts, as well as potentially equestrian, leisure, or nature-based lifestyle projects. This type of multi-pillar thinking can represent a serious competitive advantage, as the owner is not merely maintaining a beautiful listed property, but can build a well-positioned estate portfolio interpretable across multiple functions.
From an investor’s perspective, diversified utilization is particularly attractive, because the combination of the castle and the land enables multiple future visions: private residence and representative family estate, hospitality and event business, tourism development, or prestige-based, long-term value-preserving investment are all conceivable. This flexibility represents outstanding value in this category of property.
It should be particularly emphasized that such a large land area represents a strong position: its rarity, contiguous nature, direct connection to the castle, and historical environment together form a unique combination.
Naturally, specific development and utilization possibilities must in all cases be examined in accordance with local building regulations, zoning classification, heritage protection regulations, land transaction rules, and any required authority permits. However, this is precisely what gives the estate its true value: it offers a large-scale foundation in which historical elegance and consciously structured, multi-pillar future utilization can exceptionally meet.
This 56-hectare area is not merely an accessory to the castle, but one of its strongest business and strategic assets.
